A romantic wedding at Schloss Hallegg Castle in Austria
We were honored when our friend Anna-Maria called and asked us to capture her wedding. Having spent so many wonderful moments together on both sides of the Atlantic, it was now time to create maybe the most special of them all! It was time to photograph her bridal celebration at the Schloss Hallegg Austria wedding venue.
The day before her castle wedding, they held a party at a charming local restaurant near Anna-Maria’s home in a small village in Rosental. The name of this incredibly beautiful area translates to “The Valley of Roses” – a picturesque valley encircled by a beautiful stretch of the South Austrian Alps. The regional delicacies of organic food and beverages in the restaurant were simply a delight with many local “Schmankerln”!
Their romantic wedding day started with preparations, surrounded by friends, and laughter. Anna-Maria and Heiko were getting ready separately in adjacent buildings on her family’s property compound in Ladinach. It was a priceless moment when a local “Trachten Choir” arrived and sang local folk serenades to the families! When you are having fun it is easy to get carried away so when the bells rang from the nearby Church – it was time to go and eternalize their love.
Before heading towards the iconic Schloss Hallegg Austria wedding venue, music with choir and a local orchestra cheered the couple and created an amazing ambiance at the small St Johann church. Suddenly, there were bursts of Boellers outside the church! It is a local tradition that carries the symbolism of chasing away negative spirits and inviting luck and prosperity for the newlyweds. A truly one of a kind experience and a proper prequel for their castle wedding arranged by the bride’s brother!
After the ceremony, we were all amazed when a vintage 1950’s bus came and boarded the guests to the castle! Everyone was in awe upon arrival, the Schloss Hallegg Austria wedding venue is truly mesmerizing. Dating back to the 12th century, it was modified during the Renaissance in 1546 – and that is our favorite part because at that period two beautiful arcaded courtyards were added which are ideal for romantic wedding photographs!
The newlyweds danced the night away, celebrating love until sunrise. Rarely what can be compared to such a special event, partying amid knight’s gear with a band that rocked the castle while enjoying delicious incredible catering by Julya Haybäck Caterers!
