Our Story
A Day of Bliss is owned and operated by experienced wedding photographers Wolfgang Freithof and Chiaki Sato.
Since 2005, we have delighted clients across New York City with our innovative, unobtrusive brand of luxury wedding photography.
Before forming A Day of Bliss, Chiaki and Wolfgang enjoyed successful careers in the world of fashion photography, and incorporate the advanced knowledge and experience obtained into every wedding photography project. The results speak for themselves.

As a globetrotting fashion photographer and award-winning photojournalist, Wolfgang Freithof enjoyed a 30+ year career, working with a veritable who’s who of the fashion world. After photographing iconic fashion models like Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Iman, and Veronica Webb, Wolfgang turned his camera towards a different kind of beauty – newlywed bliss.
Today, Wolfgang is one of New York City’s premier wedding photographers. Alongside long-time business partner Chiaki Sato, he is the owner-operator of the award-winning A Day of Bliss photography studio. He brings his trademarked professionalism, creativity, and artistic vision to every shoot, channeling the immeasurable expertise that has graced the pages of Vogue into your special day. Among Wolfgang’s many career achievements, being the official photographer at Robert Duvall’s tango-themed wedding in Buenos Aires, Argentina ranks amongst his favorites.
When he is not busy providing award-winning wedding photography services, Wolfgang has photographed for the New York City Opera, J.P. Morgan Chase, Sony, Deborah Norville of Inside Edition, Chaka Khan, and countless other professional and celebrity clients. He is fluent in English and German but is most comfortable communicating through breathtaking still photography.

Chiaki’s journey began in Tokyo, where she displayed an early passion for photography and art. In the years since, she has traveled across the world in pursuit of her dreams. She studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City and established herself as a skilled fashion and beauty photographer upon graduation.
In 2003, Chiaki began working at Wolfgang Freithof Studios, quickly becoming an associate photographer with the company, wowing clients with her enigmatic fashion-forward style. Shortly afterward, Chiaki and Wolfgang formed A Day of Bliss Wedding Photography. Today, Chiaki is recognized as one of the best wedding photographers in New York City, and routinely has her work featured in leading publications including the NY Times, New York Magazine, Town and Country, The Knot, Brides, and DWHA.
